Each battle is a strategic puzzle, where matching colored gems fuels your heroes' unique abilities to fend off monstrous assaults. This is the core loop of Hunters & Puzzles, a role-playing match-3 game that combines squad management with tactical puzzle combat.

The gameplay operates on a familiar match-3 grid, where linking three or more gems of the same color executes a basic attack. The strategic layer is introduced through your squad of up to five hunters, each assigned a specific gem color. Matching those colors charges their individual skill meters, allowing you to activate powerful special attacks at a crucial moment. Enemy monsters attack on their own turn cycle, constantly applying pressure and depleting your team's health, demanding you plan matches for both offense and timely ability activation. Creating matches of four or more gems generates special power-up tokens on the board, such as bombs or horizontal clears, which can be matched to trigger area-of-effect damage against all foes.

Progression is managed through two parallel systems. Successful hunts yield resources used to upgrade your hunters' gear, directly improving their stats for combat. Simultaneously, you invest materials into constructing and upgrading buildings within your hunter village. These structures provide economic benefits, such as increased resource generation or reduced upgrade times, creating a sustainable loop for character and base development. The game features a wide array of content to unlock, including new hunter characters with distinct abilities, advanced gear sets with set bonuses, and special combat skills that modify your puzzle-solving approach.
